Should Arsene Wenger Go?

For those following The Barclays Premier League you’ll no doubt be aware of Arsenal’s crumbled title challenge.  For those that don’t, in recent years the team has made a habit of spending an entire season hot on the heels of whoever is leading the race, only to completely bottle it with four or fives games to go – and this season has been no exception.

Since losing the Carling Cup final to Birmingham City back in February Arsenal seem to have hit the self destruct button, only beating Leyton Orient and Blackpool since – losing another three and drawing the remaining five.  The most recent defeat at home to Bolton Wanders all but conformed the end of their title challenge, they’re currently nine points behind leaders Manchester United with four games to go.  Not only that, they’ve also relinquished second place to Chelsea, meaning they’re most likely going to finish third.

That’s One Way To Take a Penalty

I think this should be attempted in the Champions League final.

WrestleMania XXVII Review

Following on from my WrestleMania XXVII opinions and predictions post the next logical step was to write a match-by-match review like I did for last years event, so here it is.

Obviously it’s not a good idea to continue reading if you haven’t finished watching the show, but for those who have please feel free to post your thoughts in the comment section.

WrestleMania XXVII

It’s been quite some time since I’ve participated in this blogging lark, and upon logging in to this site I noticed there’s still a pretty consistent daily visitor count and the occasional comment still coming in, so for those reasons I thought it was time to bombard you with my ramblings once again.

Alrighty, in typical fashion I’ll continue to largely ignore the usual world news stories and the like, so with that in mind today’s blog is about the upcoming wrestling show WrestleMania 27, due to air tomorrow night (April 3rd).  I have to make a confession before we go any further, I’ve not watched any WWE broadcasts since last years’ WrestleMania.  This is partially due to gradually losing interest as I get older and Vince McMahon continuing to cater to a family friendly audience, but it’s mainly because I cancelled my TV sports package recently so I can’t watch it even if I wanted to.  Tomorrow nights show is obviously a Pay-Per-View so I can and will be ordering that separately, and I regularly read the so-called ‘dirtsheets’ online so I fortunately have a vague idea of what I’m talking about.

Friends of DTO

Today I thought I’d tell you guys a little about the various blogs and websites affiliated with this one, as each one is well worth a visit for one reason or another.

Dav3design

http://dav3design.wordpress.com

We’ll start with Dav3design, run by my friend Dave who I’ve known for more than 20 years.  His blog features an eclectic mix of personal adventures, unusual photography and some excellent 3D designs mainly based on various vehicles.

He updates the site regularly so it’s definitely worth bookmarking it, or if you’re a fellow WordPress user, subscribing.

DXX: The Blog

http://dxxtheblog.wordpress.com

Next us is DXX: The Blog, which is one for the wrestling fans; e-fedding in particular.  DXX was one of the most active and consistently enjoyable e-fed forums between 2006 and 2009, in that three year period seeing some memorable feuds, characters, title changes and controversies.

Unfortunately the site was eventually shut down, but fortunately most of the core members keep in contact one way or another and this blog is designed to chronicle an eventual return for the site.  If  e-feds or wrestling in general interest you keep an eye on this one.

The Greatest Free Kick Ever Scored Wasn’t A Fluke

Ever since Roberto Carlos scored the greatest free kick ever taken it’s always been assumed to be nothing more than a fluke.  A French team of scientists led by Dr Christophe Clanet discovered the trajectory of the goal scored in a 1997 friendly tournament game between Brazil and France and developed an equation to describe it, which follows the free kick itself (watch the replay in particular).
