2011 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 6,000 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

Stand Up 2 Cancer

This is a rare personal update about a charity this site is supporting called Stand Up 2 Cancer, and obviously your help would be very much appreciated.  I’ll start by saying absolutely no donations of money or anything like that are needed, all you need to do is simply click on the ‘Help Me Support Stand Up 2 Cancer’ widget near the bottom of the page and you’ll be asked to complete an activity.  From what I can tell it’s basically a series of short polls which will take no more than a couple of minutes of your time to complete.

Unfortunately cancer will affect everyone at some point in their lives, either directly or indirectly.  About a week ago I attended my uncle’s funeral who died as a result of complications from colon cancer, and my own father recently won his own battle with both prostate and skin cancer.  My dad is my hero and to lose him in his early 60’s doesn’t even bare thinking about, and sadly there are millions of people who have been in both my position and worse still that of a cancer victim.  It is a truly horrible thing to go through from so many perspectives, and supporting this charity would mean a lot to me.  Thank you. 🙂
