Dragon Age: Origins – A Review

The developers of such games as Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic have produced what is undoubtedly one of the best RPG experiences of 2009 in Dragon Age: Origins, but is it the right game for you? Does it even belong on the Xbox 360?

Top 10 Video Games of The Decade

For the final part of my ‘Top 10’ lists we’ll focus on video games.  Millions of gamers will fondly look back on the decade, with the tail end of the original Playstation and Nintendo 64’s lifespan starting us off and ending with the likes of the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii on top of the world and (for the most part) churning out a constant stream of quality titles.  Franchises have been born and continued, series like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy have continued to wow us and it looks likely that they will continue to do so long into the next decade.

There have been a lot of ups and downs along the way though, namely the RROD problem for Microsoft and Nintendo’s disastrous showing at the E3 convention for both 2009 and more infamously 2008.  With that being said no matter how you look at it the beginning of the 21st century has been memorable.

So, without further ado here are my top 10 video games of the decade in no particular order.

Top 10 Albums of The Decade

Continuing with my Top 10 Lists of The Decade we now move on to albums.  I should state that I’m a big fan of metal music so most of what’s included in this list are from that genre, however I do like to think I have a pretty diverse music taste so hopefully there should be something you recognise in there.

As always comments are welcome, and like the Top 10 Movies list this is in no particular order.

Top 10 Movies of The Decade

Seeing as there’s only a few days until the end of the decade I thought now would be a good time to share various ‘top 10’ lists between the year 2000 and now, including video games, music and movies.

The decade sometimes known as the ‘noughties’ has produced a lot of quality stuff based on those subjects.  New film franchises like Harry Potter will no doubt still be loved and enjoyed for generations to come, as perhaps the online game World of Warcraft will on the video game side of things.  New musicians shot to superstardom and could potentially stand the test of time like Cliff Richard, Madonna and The Beatles have before them, and while the following lists don’t generally include what might still be held in high regard in years to come or will be considered ‘classics’ in the future they are still (hopefully) titles you might recognise and maybe even agree with.  As always comments are most welcome.

So, on to the lists which by the way are in no particular order as I found that virtually impossible to do.  We’ll start with my Top Ten Movies of The Decade.

World Premiere of the Batman: Arkham Asylum trailer

A few days ago I blogged about the VGA Award Winners of 2009, and for those who’ve read it you may have noticed that the sequel to the popular Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the surprise announcements of the show.  As it happens a trailer was released as well, which looks intriguing to say the least.

I won’t say too much about this as it would spoil certain aspects of the first game, but the mere fact that Batman’s iconic logo crumbles at the end appears to me as though the Caped Crusader might have met his match.  Gotham City looks to be overrun with criminals and the joker looks as insane as ever, but the trailer suggests this game looks nothing short of excellent.
